7. Hope Town Lighthouse

Hope Town boasts one of the legendary visual landmarks of the Bahamas, the red and white striped lighthouse that was built to mark Elbow Reef in the 1860s. A kerosene light and a wind-up brass mechanism are still in service to beam light some 20 miles across the waves every 15 seconds. A dink landing exists near the lighthouse, perfect for boaters wishing to explore. Visitors can climb up a spiral staircase to get one of the best views around.   (© 10Best)
