2. Balmoral Castle

Balmoral has been the home of royalty since 1853, when Prince Albert purchased the castle for Victoria. While the ballroom is the lone sector open to the public, it promises a worthwhile visit, thanks to its impressive collection of art, china, porcelain, and tartans. The estate tour also includes a stop by the scenic gardens and the carriage hall, which features several royal carriages and a china exhibit. Pony rides are available.
