This castle is the site of Mel Gibson's film remake of Shakespeare's "Hamlet." This remarkable structure, noted for its striking architecture, has withstood a long and often grim history. Following the 1715 Rebellion, the castle fell on hard times, although an extensive restoration project in 1925 saw Dunnottar regain its former glory.   (© 10Best)

Be Ready
Great once you get there. There are about a miles worth of steps down and up to reach the entrance of the castle. They are not wide or equiped with a good hand railing. Once you reach the castle it is a great view of everything.
