EDITOR REVIEW: Balmoral has been the home of royalty since 1853, when Prince Albert purchased the castle for Victoria. While the ballroom is the lone sector open to the public, it promises a worthwhile visit, thanks to its impressive collection of art, china, porcelain, and tartans. The estate tour also includes a stop by the scenic gardens and the carriage hall, which features several royal carriages and a china exhibit. Pony rides are available. A café and gift shop are located on-site. |
