This famous 16th century building has enjoyed a long and storied history. Initially employed as lodging for Aberdeen's affluent citizens, the home was later transformed into a boarding home. Its namesake was John Skene, an affluent 17th century merchant, and the home was nearly destroyed in the 1930s. The present-day house is adorned with costumes, items of local history, and period furnishings. It also frequently serves as a reenactments site.
