Brig o' Balgownie

This historic pedestrian bridge, built in the early 14th century, was restored and rebuilt 500 years later. The lovely bridge offers views of the river and is a piece of history waiting to be explored.

Cullerlie Stone Circle

This circle of ancient stones forms an enclosure around a sacred plot of land. The 4,000-year-old structures surround ancient burial plots. This is another interesting historical marker of the early Aberdeen people.

This ancient farming site dates back between 4,000 and 5,000 years and marks one of the earliest settlements in the region. The rocks were believed to be used for lunar observations as a way to mark the changing seasons. An interesting and historic site to visit.

King's College

Situated among Old Aberdeen's charming cobbled streets, King's College was founded more than five centuries ago by Bishop William Elphinstone. The Visitor's Centre features an informative survey of the school's distinguished history. There's also a café and gift shop.

Lonehead of Daviot Stone Circle

This ancient stone circle has been dated to between 4,000 and 4,500 years old. The circle was used by druidic farmers to mark the change of the moon and as a site of fertility rituals. This is a truly historic and haunting sight to behold.

Maiden Stone

This stone monument, which dates back to the ninth century, is carved with an array of Pict symbols and a Celtic cross. The stone offers a window into the lives and beliefs of the ancient people of this region.

Marischal College

Established in 1593, the school boasts the world's second largest granite building. In 1895, the Gothic tower was extended to 279 feet, while the granite façade was added 11 years later. The college museum features an exceptional collection of historical artifacts devoted to northeast Scotland.

Old Town House

This historic building was the home of the local government from the 15th century until the late 19th century. The building has been restored and now serves as a public library. The Old Town House provides an excellent look at the history and development of Aberdeen.

The Prop of Ythsie

This memorial commemorates George Hamilton Gordon, the fourth earl of Aberdeen. The tall monument stands between 50 and sixty-feet high and sits on a hill in the city. Gordon served as prime minister from 1852 to 1855. The hill upon which the tower stands offers sweeping views of the city below.
