HIGHLAND SQUARE. Casual dress, a laid-back vibe and $1 cover charge (only on Fri-Sat) make Annabell's the place to go to hang out with a group of old friends or to meet some new ones. Live music from indie bands that are mostly local, or DJs play downstairs while a jukebox pumps the tunes of the times upstairs. Reasonable prices, such as $1 drafts, won't empty your wallet either.

DOWNTOWN - SOUTH STADIUM SQUARE. Conveniently located in Akron's downtown area, this large bar is popular among Aeros fans and neighborhood regulars. Large windows open to the sidewalk, offering a refreshing open-air feel. Tables are set throughout the establishment for those wanting to grab a bite to eat, but the large bar in the center is the main attraction. Drink specials are offered frequently, and the meals served here are worth a try, too.

Whether you are looking for the perfect way to show someone how special he/she is to you or the best way to impress an important business client – an evening at the Carousel Dinner Theatre won't disappoint. Excellent dinners and top-name Broadway acts are hosted in this 1940's Vegas-like showroom. Former productions have included "West Side Story," "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Music Man." As the largest professional dinner theatre in the US, this establishment can seat parties as small as 2 and groups as large as 800. Visitors can buy tickets for both the dinner and the show or for the show only.

Hosting a wide variety of nationally renowned comedians, this popular comedy club will keep you laughing. Such popular acts as "Welcome Back Kotter's" Gabe Kaplan, comedic hypnotist J. Medicine Hat and musical comedian Greg Morton have taken the stage here. Comedy fans particularly enjoy the reasonably priced tickets and the fact that there is no such thing as a bad seat in the bi-level club. Food and drinks are available, but first timers should be aware that they are a little pricey.

This lively bar is the place to go for an exciting evening with wide variety of beverages, and an invigorating atmosphere. Thursday night drag shows are one of the most popular events where the queens entertain until the techno music starts playing and the dance floor takes control. Hip hop foam parties, ladies night, 80 flashbacks and the "Circuit Circus Freak Show" mean that though the crowd is predominantly gay, anyone is welcome.

DOWNTOWN. A chic place to get your chill on, Lux is actually two destinations in one location. The Ultra Lounge offers a slick, laid-back space to sip a special drink such as the Angel Food Cake or a Queen of Hearts martini, chat up a certain someone, or if you're hungry dip into a dish of calamari or shrimp cocktail. In the Nightclub you can dance and party Thu-Sat nights with an eclectic mix of light and sounds. For those seeking refuge from the masses, admission to the VIP room is on a first-come, first served basis. The Ultra Lounge can also be rented for private events.

A favorite among locals for lunch, dinner and after work gatherings, Northside is an unpretentious establishment that has become known for its good food, rejuvenating spirits and great live entertainment. Offering a welcoming ambience, the inside of the establishment is long and narrow, accented by bold-colored paintings on the walls that are frequently revolving works from different local artists. As you walk in, the bar is the first thing to greet you, followed by an outdoor patio and a sitting area with uniquely tall benches and tables and lastly, a raised stage. Menu items include sandwiches, wraps, appetizers and salads. Gyros, burgers, pizzas and jambalaya round out the menu.

With an array of diverse banquet rooms, each with its own bar, and the ability to accommodate up to 1000 patrons, Tangier will provide a dining experience like no other. Opulent statues, a domed ceiling with imitation clouds, an impressive "wall of fame," a martini bar and stained glass ceilings create a Vegas-like atmosphere that is truly a feast for the eyes. Maryland crab cakes, stuffed grape leaves, cedar roasted salmon and chicken Portobello are all among the enticing American, Continental and Middle Eastern selections. With its very own bakery, butchery and tri-level parking garage and laundry facilities, this establishment has been justly described as a "city underground," and it is truly a city that you will never forget. Live entertainment changes on a regular basis.
