Many agree that this is one of the best delis in the city of Akron, complete with red and white checkered cloths. Not only does Primo's Deli serve deliciously satisfying made-to-order deli sandwiches, pastrami and potato salad, but it is also known for its wide selection of imported and domestic beers. DOWNTOWN. Stop by the Diamond Deli for a filling sandwich that won't empty your pockets. Located in the downtown area, this unpretentious establishment is known for the midday meal but if you're in the area early in the morning, the breakfast menu offered here is appetizing as well. Items in the morning hours include ham and cheese croissants, bacon and egg croissants and bagels and sweet rolls – a great way to start the day.

Prepare to be amazed as the skilled chef cooks your meal in front of you in this popular hibachi restaurant. Knives will fly, and your food may fly, too. Choose from any number of chicken, steak and seafood items – all of which are served with fried or steamed rice. Three separate rooms combine to accommodate the local crowd that frequents this establishment for great pizza, salads, sandwiches and Italian specialties. While waiting for their orders to come to the table, guests stay entertained by studying the décor – each wall is covered with murals of beautiful landscapes and pictures of famous visitors from the past. The band box over the entrance is filled with animatronics figures that dance to the jukebox, the sight of which never fails to stimulate conversation. Those in a party of only one or two can grab a stool at the bar and be entertained by the attentive staff members that work behind it.

Fresh white tablecloths contrasted by stark blue napkins and beautiful views of the Portage Lakes complete the enchanting ambience. Harkening back to the days of soda jerks and bobbie soxers, the nostalgic interior at Mary's will set many to reminiscing about the good ol' days. Those too young to remember can step back in time to experience an authentic '50's soda shop. Items on the menu at Mary Coyle's now include Italian specialties such as spaghetti and meatballs – but it's the desserts that keep customers coming back. Twenty-four different flavors of homemade ice cream are available to be served plain, as a thick malt shake or as one of the sundae combinations.

Diners often come alone or in small groups to take advantage of fresh sushi that is prepared and served at the small bar tucked away in the corner. Larger groups may prefer a table or booth in the charming dining room. While sushi is a popular item, other house favorites include Miso Yaki, Szechuan shrimp and Hunan Chicken. For those needing take-out, free delivery is available for orders of $15 or more.

Whatever you're in the mood for, Papa Joe's can provide. Banquet facilities, a deli counter and fine dining are all offered here. Excellent Italian food served in a pleasant atmosphere by a friendly waitstaff is what this popular family-run establishment is all about. Diners can expect to receive generous portions, along with generous prices (as in kind to the wallet). Items offered during lunch include a wide variety of tempting selections such as house-made lasagna, portabello mushroom ravioli and eggplant parmigiana. The list of appetizers, entrees, salads, sandwiches and wines is all-encompassing and far reaching – even more of a reason to come experience Papa Joe's.

Awards are numerous for this restaurant, which was voted "Best Steak House" by readers of Cleveland Magazine for five years in a row. A short drive from downtown, Hyde Park is situated next door to Akron's Sheraton Hotel.
