19. PINT Bokbierfestival

The Buzz -- Over one weekend each year, the stately former stock exchange, Beurs van Berlage, which opened its doors to traders in 1903, hosts the largest beer festival in the country. Over 12,000 beer enthusiasts gather over the weekend to sample around 50 varieties of the dark-coloured seasonal Bock Beer. Aside from the social atmosphere, part of the fun is tasting the beer produced by smaller breweries, including Amsterdam's famous micro-brewery, Brouwerij 't IJ. Beer is deliberately served in small glasses to make it possible to sample as many as possible whilst remaining relatively sober.
