7. The Pancake Bakery

The Pancake Bakery used to be such a fantastic place - well worth the trip across town, and always first on visitors' wish lists of places to go to. But our trip yesterday turned out very disappointing. The restaurant is set in a beautiful old warehouse building, which would be such a pleasure to dine in if only it was cleaned every now and then. The place was filthy. The kids toys looked as though they had never ever been near a cloth, there were flies buzzing around the highchairs, and as for the pots of molasses open on the tables - I dread to think. The pancakes used to be of monstrous proportions, but we left yesterday still hungry after being served these wafer thin, partially filled, sub-standard replacements. What a shame. Where will we go for our pancakes now?
