After spending two days in the tourist-packed city-centre, I found the perfect restaurant just around the corner from my hotel in the up and coming "De pijp" area just outside the centre. Great food, great value, great service, great oudoor eating! It's a shame we found it on our last day in Amsterdam...

Excellent authentic Dutch cuisine served both indoors and in a quaint outdoor cafe setting. Family-owned and located right off the Leidesplein, entrees are reasonably priced and varied. You'll also love the Dutch sisters who are your servers. They speak fluent English.

This Italian restaurant has everything you want for a special evening. The food was haute cuisine. We had an outstanding risotto with scallops. Also the wild seabass was very good. I wanted to try everything on the menu; so we went for the Big Beginning, shared both the Tub Gurnard and the Veal Tongue with Sweetbreads, and ended with the Grand Finale. All of these being expertly prepared on-site from the finest ingredients, beautifully presented and professionally served. Lingering at the table...
