The Dapperbuurt with its famous street market the Dapper Market is just the place for you. The Dapper Market is open 52 weeks a year, Monday thru Saturday from 9h00 - 17h00. The shops in the surrounding streets are open a bit later. During the summer of 2007 a new CANAL-Hopper (www.canal.nl) route commenced via Amsterdam's scenic waterways from the Muziekgebouw (Music Centre) aan 't IJ (near Central Station) to the Dapper dock in the Mauritskade at the foot of the Dapper Market! At a 3 minute walk from the Dapper market you will find one of the most fascinating anthropological museums in the Netherlands: The Royal Institute of the Tropics. Enjoy a meal at one of the many international restaurants in the neighbourhood, beautifully situated on scenic Oosterpark. Make a stop at De Gooijer, a functioning windmill, now a thriving micro brewery.
