EAST ANCHORAGE.   Located on 110 idyllic acres within Anchorage is the Alaska Botanical Garden. Over 900 species of perennials and 150 native plants grow amid birch and spruce woodlands. A mile-long nature walk leads to the banks of Campbell Creek where, during the summer spawn, you can watch Chinook salmon run. An alpine rock garden, an herb garden, and a wildflower walk are other park features. Guided tours are available, and visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch.   (© 10Best)
