DOWNTOWN. Anchorage is not usually thought of as a cultural center, but this venue puts the city on the performing arts map. Three theaters host local and traveling productions. The concert hall seats 2,000 and has hosted the national touring company production of "Rent," seen the Moscow Festival of Ballet's performance of Don Quixote, and screened IMAX movies in the summer months. A smaller 350-seat theater shows art films, local plays, and chamber music concerts. A mid-sized 700-seat theater is reserved for dance productions and musicals. Call the box office for current show schedules.
