3. Chilkoot Charlie's

MIDTOWN.   "Koot's," as the locals refer to it, has been an Anchorage institution since it opened in 1970. The bar has continually expanded during the years to meet the demand of visitors and natives alike. The bar is divided into nine different sections, including two stages and three dance floors. Live music is on tap every night of the week, with diverse acts ranging from Metallica tributes to a local swing band. If you prefer a cozier evening, hang at the main bar on a tree stump stool, sip a "Secret Recipe Martini" and watch an old black-and-white movie on one of the televisions.   (© 10Best)
