4. Lord Fox

Enjoyable
Great ambiance, quaint, and relaxing. A wonderful place for a special dinner. Comfortable fancy food, nothing exotic. Only restaurant that I know of that prepares salads and desserts at the table.

The Lord Fox is a nice little resturant, just pray they don't sit you next to a table with obnoxious people who have no manners. My meal was ruined by an rude woman who talked so loud I could hardly hear my husband. The food was expensive and substandard. We took a coupon of course we weren't able to use it. Good bye Lord Fox you'll never see us or our money again!

Having grown up "hearing about" the Lord Fox, after 40 years I took the plunge and my wife and I went there for a relaxing, somewhat fancy dinner. I will probably wait another 40 years before I return. The food was uninspired and over priced. The drinks were made wrong and the service was slow (it was a Saturday night and the place was 40% full. We had a coupon for 50% off a second entre which softened the blow a bit but perhaps it also contributed to their lack of attentiveness.

Ten minutes before closing, if a "regular" tries to enter your establishment, do you lock the door in their face, turn on your heel, point at the clock, and march away? If a "regular" brings a party of 15 to your restaurant and spends upwards of $2,000, do you only afford them one punch on their frequent diner card? If a "regular" brings a $25-off-for-4-entrees coupon, but one guest orders a la carte (totalling more than an entree), do you refuse to honor the coupon (especially when the bill was nearly $200)? My husband and I, and our daughter and son-in-law, used to dine at Lord Fox several times a month. The food, wine, and service are excellent, and the venue is charming. Unfortunately, the proprietress isn't. Arbitrary and unfriendly, you'll never be made to feel valued or welcome by this woman, no matter how often you go there or how much money you spend. The wait staff, on the other hand, is exceptional. (We had a flat tire in the parking lot once, and one of them even took time to assist us.) The food is creative and delicious, and the wine list is very good. Unfortunately, we're going to give Lord Fox a wide berth from now on, and recommend the same to all our clients and friends, unless we can figure out the evenings the proprietress won't be in the house.

Extensive wine list, peaceful outdoor dining, the tableside Caesar salad--need I say more.
