CENTRAL STATION. A few facts first: 1) Roughly 85% of the world's uncut diamonds pass through Antwerp. 2) Twelve thousand cutters and polishers work in the city's 380 workshops. 3) Over 25 million carats are cut and traded in Antwerp annually – more than anywhere else in the world. With this information in mind, visit the Diamond Museum for even more details about Antwerp's diamond district. Interactive displays showcase mining and cutting processes, and polishing demonstrations take place Saturday afternoons. Diamond sources and qualities are also addressed, and you can view items dating from the 16th century to the present. Borrow the free English audio guide for a history of the jewelry collection.
