5. Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen (Museum of Contemporary Art)

SOUTH DISTRICT.   Closed for renovations until September 2009. "Avant-garde" is the term most often used to describe this museum's setting and its collection. The Museum of Contemporary Art has been in operation – in a former storage silo and warehouse – since 1987. Roughly 43,000 square feet of exhibit space is dedicated to works in a variety of media, dating from 1970 to the present. Frequent temporary exhibits are mounted, and the rooftop bar boasts wonderful views of the Scheldt River.   (© 10Best)
