CITY CENTER. No trip to Antwerp would be complete without a visit to the home and studio of the city's most famous native son. Pieter Paul Rubens built this mansion in 1610 when he was 33 years old. Today, it has been restored to approximate its appearance during Rubens' most prolific period in the first half of the 17th century. Several of the master's works are displayed, including a self-portrait painted when he was 47 years old. Many items from Rubens' Roman sculpture collection are on view as well, and the courtyard garden invites leisurely strolls. Admission includes entry to the nearby Mayer van dan Bergh Museum.
