OLD CITY. Antwerp's city hall dates to the 16th century and features many beautiful works of art and ornamentation. However, the building is still used by the mayor and city council, so your best bet for a free-access tour is on the weekend. The original Italian Renaissance-style structure was burned down by the Spanish and rebuilt to its current state in 1576. Important features include frescoes and carvings inspired by classical Greek architecture.
