LATIN QUARTER. This lovely Late Gothic church was built in 1530 for the Dominican order. Subjected to various disasters over the centuries, it was gutted by fire in 1968, and several locals risked their lives to save the masterpieces inside. A free English-language tour leads visitors through the airy interior and points out important works like Rubens' "Scourging at the Pillar" and paintings by Van Dyck and Jordaens. More than 200 sculptures distinguish the sanctuary, along with amazing carved baroque altars.
