 EDITOR REVIEW: DOWNTOWN. This self-guided tour follows quiet, tree-lined streets thorough one of the oldest, most attractive areas of Appleton: the Third Ward District. The neighborhood was actually a small, self-contained community called Grand Chute prior to 1857. Today, the Third Ward offers a fascinating glimpse of 19th and early 20th century architecture. The self-guided tour is free, and the city requests that sightseeing be restricted to the sidewalk. Maps are available at the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau at 3433 W College Avenue (920-734-3358). |
