You'll find no shortage of leisure activities in Athens, which is jam-packed with museums, temples, and ruins – just what you'd expect of "The Cradle of Western Civilization." Sightseers should wear sturdy, rubber-soled shoes to maneuver the city's slippery, ancient stones. When touring monasteries, realize that many don't allow women to enter if they're wearing shorts or pants. Bare arms and cleavage are also frowned upon, so seasoned female travelers always carry a large scarf for covering up. Not interested in history? No fear – warm weather lends itself to beach days, and leisure clubs can be found just outside the city limits.
