OMONIA SQUARE. It comes as little surprise that the "Cradle of Civilization" boasts one of the world's best archaeology museums. What is stunning is the amazing collection of art and artifacts – no visit to Athens would be complete without a visit. Come early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds, and consider making repeat visits – trying to see everything at once can be overwhelming. The museum is best known for collections of Cycladic, Minoan, Mycenaean, and Classical Greek art. Minoan frescoes and the gold Mask of Agamemnon are the brightest stars in this galaxy.
