PLAKA.
This quaint section of the city is located on the slope of the Acropolis, above the Plaka. Narrow streets wind between white Cycladic cube houses, brightened by pots of well-tended flowers and drying laundry. The region was settled in the 19th century by craftsmen from the island of Anafi – hence, the name. The district is marked on the southeast side by St. George of the Rock church, on the western side by the Ayios Simeon neoclassical church, and on the Acropolis side by a 14th-century stone chapel.
