STONE MOUNTAIN. You can't say that you've really visited Atlanta until you've been to the top of Stone Mountain. Over four million visitors flock here every year to take the Summit Skyride cable car to the top of the formation, which is high enough to make it the world's largest free-standing piece of exposed granite. The 57,950-square-foot carving of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis on horseback is the largest mountain carving in the US. Various summer concerts as well as awesome Fourth of July fireworks shows continue to make Stone Mountain unmissable.
