One of the best art museums in the South opened additional buildings and exhibition space in November 2005, including a central piazza with dining and an expanded shop. More than ever before, the High is worth visiting for its European and American paintings. (from Southern Living)

I was disappointed with the Louvre exhibit, but the High's normal collection more than made up for it. I visited on a date and we both had a great time. Free for Fulton County residents on the first Saturday of every month.

The High Museum is a fine gallery, with some amazing features and three floors of beautiful art. Though it is in truth an art gallery, the museum does give a good amount of history and the staff is pleasent and discreet. Visit while the main exhibit is of interest to you and you will be floored by the presentation. The material for the main exhibit alone can take several hours to go through, but if you aren't really interested in the main exhibit the rest of the museum can be viewed in two or three hours. They offer guided tours that hit the highlights.
