STONE MOUNTAIN.   This 3200-acre park surrounds the world's largest granite monolith – you can walk to the top or take a chairlift both ways. A park highlight (and its telltale feature) is a carving on the sheer rock mountainside that honors Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. Impressive laser shows are presented during summer months along with special weekend events such as chili cook-offs and ribs festivals. Entry fee is cash only.   (© 10Best)

You’ve just got to come climb the world’s largest granite monolith and explore the charming themed venue at its base. Enjoy the 4-D theater, a skylift to the mountaintop, riverboat and railroad, golf, and a laser light show that’s filled Georgia nights for decades. (from Southern Living)

Stone Mountain Park has been the place I take all my friends and family that come visit me in Georgia. It is a major landmark to Georgians. There is plenty to do here: golf, ride the ducks, petting zoo, boats, museums, a "fun barn' for kids to play, peddle boats, train ride, sky lift, walking trail to the top of the mountain with breath taking views, a festival ilghts during Christmas, a unique Crossroads community that is travels back to the 1800s with unique shops and people in costumes acting like town folk. There are plenty of activities I haven't mentioned. I am very surprised that it doesn't rank higher and is not even mentioned as one of the top attractions in Atlanta.
