MIDTOWN.   Ultra-hip, seductive, sophisticated – all of these are apt adjectives for this Midtown lounge, where the decor is very nearly as sexy as the clientele. Lighting around the base of the bar washes the space in an eerie green hue, and the open design sports exposed ducts, smooth hardwood floors, low-slung leather furniture, slender bistro tables and weathered rock walls. Music, too, plays an important role at Sutra, and the house DJs spin everything from reggae and tone to salsa and bachata. As to the attire: Dress to impress if you hope to get past the door.   (© 10Best)

Please boycott Nurez "Rez" Madhany and this establishment as racism is unecceptable in 2008!! I was a victim of racism at this club. I went to Sutra Lounge (ATL) tonight, 8/16, and was told by the bouncers that single men could not get in at the time, only men that had women with them. So my two friends and I waited in the line for 45 mins as instructed by the bouncer. I waited quietly in line and saw other single men (white) get in, without any problems ( who were not on the guest list) when I asked the bouncer if we could get in, he stated that single men would have to wait 45 mins to get in ( like he told me 45 mins ago). I told him we were waiting for 45 mins, and he told me that until the club owner tells him so, he is not letting single men in. After seeing two more white single men go in without women, I then turn to the off duty police officer to voice my concern. He immediately jumps on the cell phone and walks away from me. I notice that his name badge is off, (something that is mandatory for all City of Atlanta police officers to wear at all times). I ask the bouncer to speak to the officer, and the officer approaches me. I explain to him what the issue was, and immediately started talking over me and denying everything I said, I got his name and was on my way home when the head of security claiming to be the “owner” told me that I was not getting in because of my “attitude”, and that I was banned from the club. I was properly dressed, and was willing to pay the cover charge, when I was treated unfairly. This is racism, and should not be going on in 2008. Do not support this club. Don’t support racism and oppression. I don’t blame security, I blame management. Security is paid to do what the owners tell them to do.
