AIRPORT AREA.   Loud, lively and rustic, this casual eatery near the airport has nurtured quite a loyal following with its fun ambience and simple, fantastic seafood. Tuck into fresh clams or oysters to start (you can be a purist and order them raw or try them fried or steamed), and then try their crab cakes, a chunky gumbo or chowder, or even sweet, delicate crab. Steaks are also available, along with burgers, salads and other light fare. The bar is well-equipped to serve your favorite poison, and casual good times are always the name of the game.   (© 10Best)

Unmerited arrogance and shocking rudeness
Bottom line up front: Avoid. Bad food, bad service, bad management, sky high prices. Four years ago, on business a trip, we had a pleasant lunch here. Now that I live in Atlanta, I made the mistake of suggesting Spondivits to a number of out of town business guests. We went on a Monday, which meant that we were seated somewhat quickly. Although there was no line, nonetheless, the host staff stood talking, ignoring us for a lengthy time while they talked. At first we waited patiently, thinking that there was some pressing issue that had to be addressed. Unless you consider the dating lives of the cooks pressing, we were mistaken. Finally we were seated. Again, a lengthy wait for drinks orders to be taken. And a lengthy wait for drinks to arrive. And a lengthy wait after food was ordered for food to arrive. It would appear that in the intervening four years, the forces of the economic downturn have doubled prices and halved serving sizes. It also appears that they have dispensed with fresh oil in their fryers. Not only were the prices out of line for what we were served, we were also charged for items we neither ordered nor were served. We asked to speak to the manager. After a lengthy wait, a heavy set man with unkempt hair and a filthy blue shirt arrived. He was indifferent at best. Then he became surly and and said that if we didn't pay in full, he'd call the police. He had no interest in addressing the fact that despite the fact that none of us had ordered appetizers, and that there were only five in our party, we had been charged with seven appetizers, and two extra entrees. When I mentioned that we would not be returning, he said, "We don't need you. We have more customers than we know what to do with. That's what happens when you're the best seafood restaurant in Atlanta." I paid the entire tab with my personal American Express instead of my corporate Visa becuase I knew the dispute resolution would be easier. Eat here if you like waiting, rancid fry oil, and being ripped off by unclean, arrogant management.

Can't be right
Oh boy!!!! We can not be talking about the same restaruant I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The food was great the drink was a little pricey especially for the amount of liquor that was not in my glass. Again over all I ate great and will def be back!!!

Excellent food
Had dinner at Spondivits on October 18...fabulous service (thanks Michael). The staff was having a blast which contributed to a fun evening. The food was incredible (bucket of lobster tails) and the price was right. Pleasant evening, fun atmostphere and great food...I've already told several people who live in NW Atlanta with me that it is well worth the drive for the experience. I will be back...
