Never let it be said that Atlantans don’t know how to spend money. With one glance around the city, you can see that shopping is a favorite – and practiced – pastime. Die-hard folks make Buckhead their focus, and with good reason. The fashionable neighborhood offers everything from quaint shops to upscale malls like Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square. The district is also the location (along the southern boundary) of Bennett Street, whose several blocks of renovated warehouses shelter antiques, accessories, and art. You’ll find similar items in Virginia-Highlands, an extended intersection of fashionable boutiques and home-décor venues. For a cooler, less refined version of this scene, skip over to Little Five Points, whose shops bear a more alternative approach, as does the clientele. If furniture and decorative accents monopolize your attention, Miami Circle offers scores of goods in all styles and price points. It’s a great area to get your aesthetic bearings or to fill a house. Downtown, Underground Atlanta offers brief distraction, and Midtown's Atlantic Station, home to the IKEA store, has given Atlanteans a whole new reason to explore the northwestern boundary of that neighborhood. The suburbs, too, have plenty to recommend on their own merit, as illustrated by the home-grown establishments in Downtown Decatur and ringing Roswell’s town square.
