BUCKHEAD. This Buckhead hotspot offers authentic Irish pub atmosphere with food, drink, and entertainment to match. Inside, you'll find quintessential dark-wood bar areas and plenty of "pub" ambiance, though the place does tend to get packed quickly after the sun goes down. A stone patio towards the rear is a favorite hangout, no matter the season, and a few bar areas make getting a long, dark quaff a little easier. Fadó features live music on Monday nights – dancing is always encouraged – as well as special events to celebrate soccer (football!) matches. To mark your visit to this Buckhead favorite, be sure to stop by the gift shop and pick up a few things Irish.

DECATUR. Brick Store Pub enjoys a prime location in a 19th-century general store overlooking Decatur's Old Courthouse Square. From exposed red-brick walls and dark wood paneling to the cozy bar area and friendly service, a traditional pub atmosphere abounds. An international ensemble of ales and stouts, including Trappist Ale and Boddingtons, headlines the beer list, and the pub's 20-plus malt scotches keep you warm no matter what season it is. Brick Store's kitchen also serves up some tasty fare such as Jaws (ale-battered cod on challah twist with lemon mayo) and hand-dipped fish & chips served with remoulade sauce.

VIRGINIA HIGHLAND. Limerick Junction, the only Irish-style haunt in the Va-Hi area, features a terrific repertoire of live Irish folk music every weekend. Indeed, you'll feel as though you've been transported to the Emerald Isle when you sip your Harp or Guinness surrounded by traditional pub decor: dark-stained woods, subdued lighting, and comfy furniture. The best seats are near the front, where you can watch as passersby go about their evening rituals. If it's cold out, an order of corned beef and cabbage or Irish stew goes a long way toward warming your bones.

PONCEY-HIGHLAND. One of Atlanta's Derek Lawford pubs (along with Fox & Hounds, Prince of Wales, and Rose & Crown), Hand in Hand is an integral part of the Va-Hi nightlife scene. Indeed, neighborhood folks flock here after work to enjoy their favorite British brews and a few rounds of cricket. Tartan-themed carpeting, dark-wood furniture, and cozy fireside seating add to the traditional atmosphere; a menu that features bangers and mash, fish-n-chips, and tomato mop adds to the authenticity. In warmer months, the brick-laid beer garden is a popular place to hang out with friends and enjoy a few pints.

INMAN PARK. Billed as an "international bistro and pub," P'Cheen certainly plays the part, boasting a worldly yet urban feel that seems to suit its trendy Va-Hi clientele just fine. It all starts with what designers Keith Frutiger and Anke Schofield did with the old, brick building that houses the pub – old light fixtures, textured walls, deep, earthy shades of orange, exposed ducts. From there, the kitchen dispells the myth that pub fare is no more than fried cod and burgers ... it can also include dishes like roasted vegetable panini, Spanish paella, and BBQ jerk turkey with feta gyro. Nb Smoking permitted after 10 pm.

LITTLE FIVE POINTS. Boasting a legitimate claim as downtown's coziest watering hole, North Highland Pub offers patrons a welcome break from trendier, more crowded joints in Va-Hi and Little Five Points. From classic storefront windows and old baseball photos to exposed brick walls and antique beer signs, the pub stands as a nod to Atlanta's past. As far as pub grub goes, you'll find staples like Buffalo shrimp, nachos, and chicken fingers. Tasty surprises like a New York strip with coconut shrimp and blackened chicken fettuccini also dot the menu. Tuesday is trivia night, so make sure you show up early if you want a table.

BUCKHEAD. In need of a pint of Guinness but don't want to wait in line at Buckhead's more trafficked joints? Do yourself a solid and head to this homey Irish-style pub, where rugby and (real) football are usually on the tube and pints are served the way they should be. Boasting the look and feel of a neighborhood fave, McDuff's is Atlanta's sole Irish-owned pub, and it's not a rarity to find the same folks sitting in the same seats for nights at a time. Sharpen up your aim before you challenge regulars in a game of darts, since cricket is second only to beer at this pub.

MIDTOWN. If you don't feel like visiting a wild, loud club, then head for Prince of Wales for an evening that's more laid-back but equally entertaining. The pub-style interior is inviting and cozy, and there's plenty of room to get comfortable and have a Guinness and a quiet conversation. Darts and a fun patio add to the relaxing, neighborhood-bar vibe.
