EDITOR REVIEW: MIDTOWN. Pushing the envelopes of urban renewal and multi-use development, Atlantic Station stands poised to emerge as one of the nation's most dynamic districts. Reasons to visit this red-brick "city unto itself" are legion: Popular specialty stores like West Elm and Banana Republic stand alongside busy eateries like The Grape, California Pizza Kitchen, and Claddagh Irish Pub. There's also a 16-screen Regal Cinema, a grocery store, and the first IKEA in the Southeast. Atlantic Station is much more than an open-air shopping center, though, thanks to park areas, wide pedestrian-only corridors, and plenty of luxury lofts and apartments. Heck, the place even has its own zip code! Once a brownfield, the former Atlantic Steel site now offers more than 130 acres of shops and homes. Planned to house up to 10,000 residents in lofts, condos, and townhomes, Atlantic Station maintains a Disney-esque feel with a large selection of big-name chain stores sure to lure shoppers from the malls. Along with the large movie theater, Publix, DSW, and Dillard's flagship store, you'll find upscale places such as Metropolitan Deluxe, GUESS, west elm, and Taste Clothing Boutique, as well as Pier 1 and Old Navy. Best of all is IKEA - the only one the planet to serve grits. (from Southern Living) Location Map 17th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30363 Larger Interactive Map » Show Nearby Businesses » |
