BUCKHEAD. It started life as a cigar bar, but Havana Club now includes Latin dancing in its repertoire and serves up some pretty mean drinks as well. The upscale venue is a constant favorite with those who enjoy a little activity with their lounging and drinking. Rhythmic music keeps the energy at an elevated level, and whether DJs spin during the week or bands play on the weekends, you can be certain of a charged, exciting atmosphere. Cigars are available, of course, and you'll also find tasty, refreshing cocktails. Plus, if Havana's patrons have you longing to shake your own booty, the club offers lessons for novices.

BUCKHEAD. This laid-back venue, with its relaxed sophistication and comfortable furnishings, attracts a regular clientele, who come for delicious martinis and smooth jazz music. A professional crowd frequents the intimate place, stopping in after work or gathering in the evening. Lounging on upholstered sofas, nursing cold drinks, they simply soak in the ambience and the sweet smokiness of cigars. Live piano music serenades visitors, and you'll also find champagne and – of course – caviar.

WESTSIDE. This club is, indeed, a compound. Fashioned from a series of separate structures and linked by a minimalist courtyard that surrounds a reflecting pool, the fabulous place is comprised of several venues. MB1, the lounge, lets guests relax amid artwork and DJ-spun tunes. Ride is the expansive dance club, whose music and visuals envelop patrons in a sensory interplay of light and sound. Rail, finally, hosts special events as they arise. Throughout the week, different nights focus on dance, international, and Asian music.

BUCKHEAD. Not exactly what its name suggests, the trendy Hole in the Wall is a favorite of Buckhead's young and hip crowd, who shake their stuff to the best 70s and 80s grooves until the wee hours. The expansive dance floor, flanked by funky hand-painted murals and hypnotic disco lights, gets packed on the weekends, so show up early to stake your claim. The Hole's kitchen serves up tasty bar food and, if you need to catch your breath, the lounge area offers several comfy leather couches.

MIDTOWN. If you don't feel like visiting a wild, loud club, then head for Prince of Wales for an evening that's more laid-back but equally entertaining. The pub-style interior is inviting and cozy, and there's plenty of room to get comfortable and have a Guinness and a quiet conversation. Darts and a fun patio add to the relaxing, neighborhood-bar vibe.

NORTH DRUID HILLS ROAD. The aptly named Famous Pub & Sports Palace enjoys popularity with Atlanta's northsiders and students from nearby Emory, who love coming here to catch their favorite teams on the tube, down a few brews, and munch on fried grub. Tinted glass windows shield the games from the sun, and friendly waiters and waitresses patrol the seated areas in search of anyone with a half-empty glass.

NORTH DRUID HILLS ROAD. A large space, vibrantly colored, welcomes patrons who crave a little Latin-accented festivity. There's plenty to prove distracting, whether it's pub fare, South of the Border dishes, a regular slate of live music, or a large assortment of tequilas, beers, and other liquors. A youngish crowd finds much entertainment in Tin Roof, whether it be dancing, catching the game on TV, playing pool, taking part in trivia competitions, or trying their hand at karaoke. Night owls regularly keep the energy level hopping until the wee hours. Smoking allowed inside after 9pm.
