Augusta's only standing historical theater, the Imperial was the place to be in the early 1900's when bawdy Vaudeville acts graced the stage and silent movies were all the rage. Charlie Chaplin once visited during a push to sell war bonds. Then came talkies, and today the Imperial has been refurbished and is now the venue for live stage performances and is home to the Augusta Opera and Augusta Ballet.
