BARTON SPRINGS DISTRICT.   For some of the best activities in Austin, visit the Zilker Metropolitan Park. One of the most popular parks in Austin, this 351-acre recreation area features a swimming pool, train rides, a playground and plenty of jogging and biking trails. Also located here are the amazing Zilker Botanical Garden, the Austin Nature and Science Center, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and the Zilker Hillside Theater. Comment: Who in the WORLD calls it Zilker Metropolitan Park!?! It is simply Zilker Park, home of Barton Springs - a natural pool with water that feels like chilled silk and looks like liquid crystal as you glide through it. Why is it necessary to Yuppy-up all of the natural wonders of Austin?
