UNIVERSITY AREA.   Nearly 150 years old, Sholz Garten is the state’s oldest tavern and one of the top bars in Austin, TX. With a long history stemming from the German biergarten tradition, this Austin tavern has hosted quite a long list of celebrities, artists and politicians. Drink selections include a wide variety of specialty beers, and the place serves a good mix of German and Texan foods for hungry patrons.
