CONGRESS AVENUE.   Voted Austin's "Best Jazz Bar" for seven years running, Elephant Room is located below street level and features cool jazz in an intimate setting seven nights a week. Not only is the place too smokey, no ventilation at all but they water down their drinks something fierce! No one wants water in their wine.

A dark cozy basement jazz bar. They say they have only missed 1 night in 14 years of live jazz. I saw a couple of very good quartets. I'm surprised there wasn't a line out the door.
