SOUTH AUSTIN.
A local favorite among Austin barbecue restaurants, Artz Rib House offers taste that goes far beyond its humble facilities. This South Austin restaurant specializes in amazing country-style pork ribs, but the chicken, sausages and smoked brisket are all delicious too. You will get plenty to eat here, with sides like potato salad, coleslaw and pinto beans. As an extra incentive to eat at Artz’s, live bluegrass artists perform almost every night.

Keep Looking
On our way from San Antonio back to Dallas we decided to stop for some BBQ. Unfortunately Iron Works was closed on Sunday. We Googled Austin Best BBQ and Artz came up as one of the Ten Best in Austin. Ribs were good but I'll I can say about the sliced brisket is that it was sligthly better then beef jerky. Not sure why we continued with dessert since the food was not great but we ordered the raspberry peach cobbler. It was more like a peach cake soaked in raspberry sauce.

Absolute disgrace!
Wow, where do I start? 10 mins. after taking a seat we saw a rat crawling in the middle of the room - right by our table.
4 of us got up, talked the wait staff... and to my UTTER surprise, the look on their faces was like .... "So??", "rat"?? "what's the big deal".
Needless to say, we promptly walked out (before telling them to feed the rats with our order)

What a Mistake
We had heard this was a great place and visiting Austin and inquiring it was only after when we relayed our story that people winced and said, "Oh no you didn't go to Artz?!" The night we went there was 'nothing' they were out of chicken, out of, beef, out of RIBS!! Is this a Rib House or what? The only thing offered was burgers. I guess they were having tax problems? Or, so was explained to us. So they only have a finite amount of food on hand any given day. The day we went wasn't so good. It should be renamed "Old Mother Hubbard's"
