SOUTH CONGRESS AVENUE.   Güero´s is a relative newbie on the Austin Mexican restaurant scene, having just opened in 1986. It's a bustling spot on trendy South Congress and is especially so at lunch when sidewalk tables fill up fast. Evenings can be lively as well, particularly when live bands play on the patio. Menu highlights include tacos al pastor (marinated pork on corn tortillas with onions, cilantro and pineapple) and alambres (grilled marinated beef with bacon, peppers, and onions). Service was terrible. From the moment we walked in the hostesses treated our large party as a bother. Service slow and food was not memorable.

I agree with bronx1954. Our visit was painful. Service was ridiculousy slow, even settling the check took almost 30 minutes. Food was passable, but not noteworthy. Expensive, and not Tex Mex. Be aware and beware!

crowded and overpriced with less than mediocre service and food is over rated. It is a trendy place in SoCo area of Austin.I ahve tried various dushes and have been very disappointed.
