10Best's Austin Attractions & Activities
-- Kelly Sigmon, 10Best Travel Editor
One of Austin's most popular "sights" is actually the Congress Avenue Bridge, which is popular not for its architecture or aesthetics, but for the bats that roost underneath. Otherwise, the city has an eclectic range of sights and activities with enough variety to appeal to just about every traveler. Outdoor pursuits, from swimming to hiking to team sports, are easily accessed at the city's several public parks, such as Zilker or Town Lake, or at nearby state parks like McKinney Falls. Art aficionados will want to visit one of the city's half-dozen art museums; families can find the fun at Volente Beach Waterpark, the Austin Zoo, the Nature and Science Center and the Children's Museum.
