For visitors to Baltimore, the city's appeal lies in both its beautiful location on the Chesapeake Bay and its rich history. Along the gorgeous Inner Harbor, Baltimore sight-seers will find attractions including the National Aquarium, family-friendly Port Discovery museum, and the Pride of Baltimore II. For history buffs, Fort McHenry is a must-see. The site of a shining moment in history, Fort McHenry is the location where Francis Scott Key first composed the "Star-Spangled Banner" during the War of 1812. For the rest of the story, visit the Flag House, historic home of seamstress Mary Pickersgill, the creator of the actual flag that flew over Fort McHenry and inspired Key to write the anthem. Baltimore also has a long standing tradition in the arts, as is apparent by the city's countless museums.
