MT VERNON.   The tall obelisk in Washington, D.C. is not the only monument honoring our first president, nor was it the first. The Washington Monument in Baltimore was completed in 1829 and is now among the top Baltimore attractions. Both monuments were designed by Robert Mills, but this one is significantly smaller at 178 feet tall. Climb 228 steps to the top for an amazing view of the Baltimore skyline and surrounding architecture and park statues of Mount Vernon Place.   (© 10Best)
