FELLS POINT.   “Eat Bertha’s Mussels” is a slogan known far and wide, and many bumper stickers have led people to this legendary Fells Point restaurant. Steamed mussels are served up naked, accompanied by your choice of eight different sauces. Sunday brunch in Baltimore is sure to be a hit at Bertha’s as well, where Baltimore breakfast specialties like crab cakes Benedict and French toast are favorites. High tea, complete with scones and pastries, is served during the week and requires reservations.   (© 10Best)

The mussels are great with the sauces. Try the spinach with olive oil sauce, and the mustard sauce - they go so well with the mussels. Crab cakes taste good, a little bit salty for me but just fine for my friend, and the price is good. Two crab cakes with potato side dish for only $19 (price of Jan 05). You'll love it.

Bertha's, famous for the bumper stickers hailing their mussels, has a great, grungy atmosphere. The food is okay, but avoid the mussels at all cost. I've eaten there a half dozen times and the mussels have always been gritty. Actually, "gritty" is putting it mildly. Stick to the entrees and you can have a pleasant dining experience.
