HAMPDEN.   Hampden is widely accepted as the "real Baltimore," where you can go to hear and see the city's natives in action. It is also a university center; this area of Baltimore is home to Loyola College, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Baltimore. Perhaps due to the student influence, Hampden is known for its wide range of vintage clothing stores, thrift shops, and used furniture stores. The Baltimore Zoo and some of the city's oldest mills are also located here.
