7. Le Beaujolais

Consistently awarded for its ambience and fine cuisine, this long-established gem is one of the area's best. The elegant, second-story restaurant envelops diners in luxury and attentive service, adding to the already-strong appeal of the food. Diners may choose from prix fixe or a la carte menus, both of which are incredible. Representative dishes include roasted chicken breast stuffed with truffle paste, slow-braised caribou, roasted rack of lamb, and seafood gratin with scallops, mussels, shrimp and Alaskan king crab. Very enjoyable (and expensive) dinner. My husband and I both chose the 3-course menu so we could try a variety. I had the Baked Anjou Pear, the Alaskan Crab Crêpe and the Brome Lake Duck Breast. All were delicious but I still remember the Baked Anjou Pear - just wonderful. The service was very good though there weren't many people in the restaurant as we were eating early.
