7. Murrieta's Westcoast Grill

Murrieta's got its start in Calgary, and has since branched out to include a location in Edmonton and one here in Canmore. The second-floor dining room, with hardwood floors, historic regional photos on the walls and astounding views from huge windows, is stylish and comfortable. The food is quite good, and includes dishes like oysters with huckleberry mignonette, hazelnut-crusted goat cheese with spiced pear compote, flatbread pizzas, pastas, steaks, Cornish hen with mushroom-bacon-onion ragout, and several fresh fish preparations.
