3. Giorgio's Trattoria

Giorgio's envelops diners with richly-colored walls and gleaming woodwork, offering a cozy respite from the winter weather outside. Locals call this one of their favorite places, and you can tell by the people waiting for a table that it's popular. Homemade pastas and pizzas are the main draw, although the osso buco and shrimp with garlic and olive oil demand attention too. Pizzas are fired in a wood-burning oven and come in various combinations, including one with tiger shrimp, mussels and cilantro. I worked here in 2001 for the summer and enjoyed every minute of it I probably ate there every shift. It is amazing food and the staff and Tony are great! It's a must see if you are to eat out in Banff!

I was in Banff in August of 2002 and "stumbled" upon Giorgio's Trattoria. My daughter lived in Greenwich Village in NYC for 8 years and I would compare Giorgio's food and ambiance to any of the Italian restaurants I visited there.
