Once you enter beneath the steeply-pitched portico, you're in a different world, by virtue of the eclectic decor and the fact that each table has a telephone – just-because. Fondue is the attraction here, either cheese fondue or foods cooked at the table in oil. Another social option is hot-rock cooking. The choices are legion: opt for something tame like beef, chicken and scallops, or venture to wild boar, alligator, rattlesnake and frog legs. There are all sorts of combination dinners too, and steaks are available for those who want the cooking done for them. For dessert, the chocolate fondue is a must, and since you dip into it with fruit, the calories are cut in half!

This is by far the largest tourist trap I have ever been to. We paid $80 for two tough tiny steaks that we could have picked up from Safeway down the street for $15. On top of this we had the privlage to be served by a snarky waitress who would be more sutied to working in a Macdonalds. For this beyond poor service we were automatically charged a 15% gratuity. Despite the manager's assurances that their food is gluten free my wife still became ill after eating her food. Along with a dark dingy interior you also walk away smelling like grease. I would recommend that you go to any other restraunt in Banff EXCEPT the Grizzly House even if this means going to Macdonalds. At least there you will only pay a marginal amount for crappy food!

This restaurant comes highly rated but the management and staff where rude and unresponsive. Briefly; no eating utensils, pour your own $120 bottle of wine, one glass of water only, plastic in the salad, burners not staying lit and to top it off..management that takes no responsibility for mistakes and has an attitude of "sometimes these things happen".
Very disapointing!

I never miss a visit to the Grizzly house whenever I go to Banff. An unique experience and great service is given. Meal are at a leisurely pace which suits Banff just right. I recommend the combo dinners….Enjoy!
