7. Waldhaus Restaurant

Set in what used to be the hotel golf course's clubhouse, this restaurant lies a few steps from the Banff Springs' main building. Its menu is dedicated to authentic German cuisine, so you'll find venison, trout, roast duck, short ribs and wiener schnitzel to choose from. Fondues depart from the theme just a bit but are popular for their novelty and their great taste. A few meatless dishes also satisfy the vegetarians in the group. Due to our love of German food, we seek out German restaurants wherever we travel. We were excited to find one in Banff, and were looking forward to dining there. We were disappointed with the food, and value. The service was excellent, and the ambiance charming.

We were disappointed in the beef fondue. The broth was not hot enough to cook the beef.
